I'm Not Asexual
Why Should I Care?
This podcast goes so far beyond sex. Pamela and I discuss the scourge of societal invisibility that we all feel as we grow older or have significant changes to our physical appearance or desirability. I talk about how I felt that invisibility encroach as I gained weight, but like Pamela, I have grappled with the lifelong feeling of being deemed less worthy because I inhabit the objectively less desirable traits of being a Black woman.
Furthermore, we discuss how this has created an erasure of Asexuality and Aromantics from the LGBTQIA+ spaces that are supposed to be their havens. If you are queer and are dismissive of your AceAro brethren because you simply do not understand them, this episode is for you. I'm also willing to bet that many of you may actually identify with Pamela, but haven't had a name for how you orient. Hopefully, this conversation can help to shed some light.
